Introduced in 1951, No. 89 takes its name from the number of the Floris shop and perfumery in Jermyn Street, which was originally the family home and remains very much the beating heart of our perfume house today.

No. 89 was created in the sub-basement at 89 Jermyn Street which was traditionally and affectionally known as ‘The Mine’, and is where all of our fragrances were created up until the late 1970s. Devoted wearers of No. 89 include Cary Grant, Sir Alec Guinness and Ian Fleming, creator of James Bond.

    A standard for any collection

    Classic and masculine. It's present and distinct but definitely not overbearing. To me, it's a very familiar kind of scent but lighter and more sophisticated. It also has an interesting "bloom" when I wear it. For the first 15-30 I think might have to apply more, but then the fragrance ramps up and becomes more distinct. I get a solid 5-6 hours from just a couple of standard sprits, which works fine for me. And to fully seal the deal, this seems to be my wife's favorite.

    I do not feel fully groomed unless the last touch is to apply a good Cologne. Floris No 89 has become a 'staple' in my collection; because it always attracts interest and gets the conversation started.

    A bit underwhelming.

    The Mrs described it as powdery. More floral than I would like. I will say, it developed as it sat and those floral and powder nuances gave way to what I would figure and proper gentleman would smell like. It's alright, prefer the Mulberry Fig.
