The Malmaison carnation was the fashionable flower ‘du jour’ in the late 19th century. Worn as a buttonhole by elegant gentlemen and displayed prominently in crystal and glass vases in all the best houses in fashionable society. The original recipe is no longer possible to create due to restrictions in ingredient use, therefore the Floris perfumery team have created Malmaison Encore, a 21st century interpretation of the original Malmaison, created to recapture the spirit and emotions that it embodied.

With Malmaison Encore, we aimed to create a fragrance in homage to the iconic 19th century fashionable flower, the Malmaison carnation was notably worn by Oscar Wilde in his lapel when visiting the Floris Shop to purchase his favourite Malmaison perfume.

Malmaison Encore honours the enchanting Malmaison Carnation of the 19th century, capturing the essence of an era long past. A twist of lemon enlivens the dramatic spicy notes on top.     perfect

    Floris, in the past did a great Malmaison perfume and bath products which was very sadly discontinued. An alternative was sold for a short period of time which was very disappointing, extremely sweet and a feeble clove hit.

    This Malmaison Encore is SUPERB. Well done Floris for capturing the spicy essence of carnation so perfectly in this complex fragrance

    sadly not for me

    as a huuuuge US based lover of Floris...it pains me to say that Malmaison Encore was not for me :( idk if its the clove, but I get a strong, fragrant, scented women's lotion vibe from this. its not a bad scent...just not for me. to my nose, it didn't feel unisex or masculine in any way. very mature, feminine and old school, with a sweet, vanilla dry down. its hard to describe but I just wasn't a fan of the heavy, somewhat chemical, warm lotion smell. with only two sprays, literally felt like I slathered on an Avon or Mary Kay body cream. like something you'd find in your grandmothers powder room. I think it would make a great gift for a mature, older woman. but not for a gentleman that likes, clean, fresh, citrusy, spicy, woody, florals.
