The Malmaison carnation was the fashionable flower ‘du jour’ in the late 19th century. Worn as a buttonhole by elegant gentlemen and displayed prominently in crystal and glass vases in all the best houses in fashionable society. The original recipe is no longer possible to create due to restrictions in ingredient use, therefore the Floris perfumery team have created Malmaison Encore, a 21st century interpretation of the original Malmaison, created to recapture the spirit and emotions that it embodied.

With Malmaison Encore, we aimed to create a fragrance in homage to the iconic 19th century fashionable flower, the Malmaison carnation was notably worn by Oscar Wilde in his lapel when visiting the Floris Shop to purchase his favourite Malmaison perfume.

Malmaison Encore honours the enchanting Malmaison Carnation of the 19th century, capturing the essence of an era long past. A twist of lemon enlivens the dramatic spicy notes on top. Rose and ylang ylang add floral facets whilst patchouli, musk and vanilla bring a touch of sweetness asserting the oriental floral character of the fragrance.

    My favorite

    I'm not sure how many years ago I bought Malmaison Encore, ages. And loved it. I was so happy to buy it again because it seemed rarely available. It's one of the best, for sure.

    The Original?

    Full Disclosure: I purchased this particular Perfume while living in UK in 2018. At that time it was a part of the Ledger Collection only available at the London Shop and hand poured in person. It was the most beautiful fragrance in a special gold/glass bottle, hand labeled. Im still in love with it. Im not sure if this is the same formula but Id give it a try... if I were you.

    Three stars for Malmaison Encore.

    I’d been saving up for this perfume as I loved the original Malmaison so much. I know that can’t be brought back.

    It’s a delicate & pretty fragrance & doesn’t seem to last for long.

    I’d prefer it if it was more spicy.

    Meh

    My favourite perfume ever was Malmasion. I loved the spicy notes, I felt divine wearing it. When it was discontinued I was devastated. Last time there was a special release I dithered about the price and ultimately did not purchase. So when I saw this I had to go for it despite the expense. It’s well packaged but the spice is gone. Not for me, disappointing.

    Mature fragrance

    I was excited about this fragrance as I have been searching for a true carnation scent. It’s a fine perfume albeit too powdery for my taste. It’s refined and mature, and perhaps not as focused on carnation as I would prefer.
